Padi Laila... In response to His Majesty's Titah.

In only over a month after we first visited Pehin Aziz's padi field in Wasan we went again this morning to see harvesting in progress and had the opportunity to experience harvesting ourselves. Thanks Pehin Aziz and Dato Jumat for the invitation, hospitality and sharing their experience.

And since the last visit to our project in Lot Padi Sengkuang, Labi, the area being cleared gets larger each day...

Beautiful Sunday

Sunday 24th January must be one of my happiest day this year. My wife looked well, had lunch at Zaika, went to Labi to visit our future padi field, visited my parents and discovered new insects in my parent's garden.

At about 4 this morning, I however was woken up by my wife asking for sweets and I thought she was having a dream but when I touched her hand it was cold and when I woke up I saw she was drenched in sweat. It's a sign I get familiar with for the last one year... her sugar level had dropped drastically and she need sugar. Woke up, looked for sweets, made her 2 cups of milo and some sweet biscuits. After that she gained a bit of strength but could not get up and she continued her sleep. It was only hours later that she was able to wake and get up and bought her to the KB Hospital but nothing more can be done. I hope she gets better each day but will and had always expected his sort of drawbacks from time to time. I am lucky to have families, friends and colleagues who understand our situation but pity her because amongst most of her friends who understand her plight there exist some who do not and sarcasm becomes 2nd nature to them. May Allah bless us all.

Thorny but sweet

Alhamdulillah we are back home in Qasrul Amani after spending just over a week in RIPAS Hospital... Semuga kami semua mendapat rahmat dan hidayat dari Allah dari semua yang kami alami dan hadapi. Amin.

And if the thorns scare you, the young shoot is actually sweet especially if cooked with coconut milk. Just go to the tamu and ask for umbut nibong from the local vendors and maybe you will be lucky to be able to buy some.

By God's will

There are a lot of things we can plan in life but there are some which you may not plan for but will happen by God's will. After our enjoyable trip to Miri and Singapore my wife was severely suffering from short of breath and the swelling of her feet worsen. She had been complaining of these ailments for nearly the whole of 2009 and last Friday whilst we were in Bandar because I was supposed to attend a company dinner, we decided it was best for her to seek treatment because she could not stand the pain any longer. We spent about 6 hours in the RIPAS Hospital Accident & Emergency Department. The doctor said the swelling was due to excessive water retention and after x-ray the doctor found that she had water in her lungs and had to be admitted immediately.

The evening before that we celebrated my bro-in-law & wife's joint birthdays. They're born on the same date.

Friday morning I was stalking these two insects in my bro-in-law's garden.

Why is 1st day always hectic?

So happy to be on leave for the last 2 weeks but coming back to the office, that's a totally different story. Really feel like should not have gone on leave due to the outstanding work.

So what did I do during my leave? Went to Miri and Singapore after not being to these places for a long time and attended a nephew's wedding in between.
